Welcome to NBCCF’s 16th Annual Advocacy Training Conference

Breast cancer advocates from across the country and around the world are preparing for their annual spring journey to Washington, D.C. – and the excitement is in the air.

For those of you who have not yet registered and made your travel plans, there’s still time. Pre-conference registration closes on April 18…so you can still get in on the lower rate and find a hotel room, but don’t wait…those slots are filling up quickly. You can, of course, still register at the Conference itself on April 26 starting at 10:00am at the Renaissance Hotel.

While the Washington cherry blossoms are beginning to fade, the list of Conference speakers and the variety of workshops offered this year is in full bloom. It was hard to decide on my 3 workshop choices among so many exciting policy, research, media and advocacy workshops this year. Even those of us who are veteran Conference goers have 13 NEW workshops to choose from.

If you are a first-time attendee, don’t worry about being overwhelmed by the size and scope of the conference – on Saturday, April 26 at 12:45pm, you are invited to a First Time Attendee Orientation that will help you get the most out of everything the conference has to offer. In addition, you’ll receive training for Lobby Day, meet neighbors at your state delegation meetings, acquire new skills to help your organization back home, and attend workshops designed just for first-timers.

Those of us on the NBCCF Board of Directors are waiting to greet new and returning faces so look for those of us with “Board” ribbons and come say hello. We welcome you to a conference like no other – to a family of advocates who have changed the world of breast cancer – to a Coalition dedicated to our mission to end breast cancer. See you soon!
