NBCCF’s Best Practices in Breast Cancer Advocacy Awards – Help Identify 2008 Grassroots Nominees

The National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund’s (NBCCF) Best Practices in Breast Cancer Advocacy Awards recognize and directly support organizations that address critical issues of research, health care access, and public policy through innovative, systems change.  During the Annual Conference this afternoon, organizations interested in learning more about the awards had a unique opportunity to attend a Special Skills-Building Workshop that focused on the definition of systems change, and how organizations can analyze their goals and practices through the lens of systems change.

This Special Skills-Building Workshop was so much more than just an informational session about how to submit an award nomination. Workshop attendees got a chance to have an in-depth discussion about concepts such as leverage points, tipping points, networks and hierarchies, to review previous awardees’ models of systems change, and to test-drive whether their organizations were really changing the rules, and having high impact on the research, health care access, and public policy worlds.

NBCCF encourages a wide range of nominations, including those from organizations that serve diverse and medically underserved populations. So help spread the word about NBCCF’s 2008 Best Practices in Breast Cancer Advocacy Awards – it’s a fantastic opportunity to get national recognition for all the innovative and strategic work that we as breast cancer advocates have accomplished.

On-Line Applications for The 2008 Best Practices in Breast Cancer Advocacy Awards will open Monday, May 5, 2008. Visit www.StopBreastCancer.org for more information.
