Annual Membership Meeting Luncheon Highlights

Midday on Sunday, NBCC/F members attending the conference gathered in the Grand Ballroom to enjoy a boxed lunch while attending the annual membership meeting. NBCC/F Board Vice President, Christine Brunswick, convened the meeting and introduced Joy Simha and Shirley Brown, members of the Board’s Membership Committee. Joy & Shirley impressed upon the luncheon guests the importance of individual and organizational membership, while recognizing New York and California as the two states with the largest number of NBCC members and also the largest number of conference attendees.

Christine Norton, also a member of the Board, took to the stage next in order to present the Sixth Annual Community Fundraising Award to the Auxiliary of the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. A short video showcased how the Auxiliary through its Program of Empowerment, raised more than $83,000 for NBCC. Letter carriers and their families throughout the nation held fundraisers and sold various items with the proceeds going to NBCC. Leanne Cook, the immediate past president, accepted the award for the Auxiliary’s hard work.

After watching a montage of quotes, photos and videos that recapped some major highlights for NBCC/F in the prior year, NBCC President Fran Visco discussed the major accomplishments and challenges for the organization. She concluded by reminding our members that as difficult and complex as NBCC is and the questions raised by this conference may be, that is nothing compared to the difficulty and complexity involved in the eradication of breast cancer.
